Summer Glow Without the Summer Burn

June 13, 2006 enelrad

Protect your skin from the sun whenever possible.

90% of skin damage is due to sun exposure.  You don’t have to lie out in the sun to get sun damage.  If you drive a car or even ride in a car you increase the risk of sun damage.  Skin cancer is on the rise and while we may not be able to completely avoid the sun we can better protect ourselves by wearing sunblock.  Use at least a SPF 15 on your face and a SPF 30 on your body.   For oily skin there are oil-free sun blocks available. Use a generous amount and choose one that protects from both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays.

If you live in an extremely hot area, carry a cute parasol or wear a visor or darling sun hat.

Want the glow without the risk?

Opt for airbrush tanning or bottled sunless-tanner to get a healthy glow and a surprisingly slimmer look.

First of all: Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Both the sunless-tanning and airbrush will adhere and look better on exfoliated skin.

If you opt for the bottled sunless tanner: Choose an oil-free tanner with SPF mixed in.

Don’t: Place any tanner under the eyes if you are prone to dark circles. By alleviating the eye area this will make the color blend and the circles less prominent.

Avoid the knees, the ankles and the wrists, as this is where the product will settle into the lines and dry areas.  Make sure that you wash your hands well after to avoid staining the palms of your hands.

For an extra dewy glow add a hint of bronzer to the nose, chin and brow bone.

Airbrush tanning is super popular and if done correctly will look great.  If you want to "drop a few" instantly have the technician contour (shade) troublesome areas.

Looking good makes you feel good, you don't have to sacrifice your health in order to look your best.

Wishing you warm summer days!
